    Up/Down of the Day

    Up:
    - Finally going running after talking about doing it for the past year.
    - Going to the library and finding The Elves of Cintra available.
    - Finishing my part of our presentation on bioterrorism for PMG (prokaryotic molecular genetics).
    - Getting Bones, Grey's Anatomy and Southland all in one day.
    - Going to my last organic lab class and realizing how close this sememster is to ending.
    - My brother being home early.
    Down:
    - Getting a cramp about a block into running... Because I haven't worked out in about a month and not stretching because I wanted to go before it got even hotter.
    - Realizing I might have to appeal my scholarship because my GPA might drop below a 3.5
    - STILL not having resolved issues with my boyfriend, and having to wait until Wednesday on his only day off.
    - Being home, alone, for about 75% of the day

  • Oh the nostalgia

I was mindlessly sifting through the many videos that make up youtube, and some how came upon a non-disney princesses video collage thing, and it reminded me of all these great old animated movies that I'd totally forgotten about. Like
    A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK!
I used to LOVE this movie, and I haven't seen it in ages. Oh the beauty of youtube, I'm gonna try to watch it before it gets flagged for copyright infringement. If you're interested, here's the rest: Click for movie!
But what about all the REST of the great non-disney animate movies? Like...
    Happily Ever After
Yeah, remember this one? The alternative, non-disney Snow White movie? Even though it's after...but still. I always thought of it as the other Snow White Movie.

Here's the rest of this one

    Then there's Thumbelina!

    Wee! Free movies!
    And who could forget:
    FernGully

    Clickety click

And All Dogs Go to Heaven

And last but not least, Anastasia, whose embedding was disabled :( but you can find the movie here.Does anybody else remember these movies? Did I leave out one of your favorite animated non-disney movie? Another one I always really like too, was the Secret of NIMH. Damn, that was a hardcore movie for little kids. I also loved how they had way more mature undertones than disney movies. Like the gambling and gang related activity in All Dogs Go To Heaven. I'm thinking of maybe buying all of these on DVD if they have them, they'd be a great addition to my collection, and so maybe one day, my kids will watch them too.

  • That's not what you think it's for...

You know when you go to Wal-Mart to buy an updated supply of um...ahem...feminine products? And you know people are staring at your basket, and they see it, and they just know? Well, the other day I went to Target (so much less crowded than Wal-Mart) and bought: Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. Yeah... I would have bought it online and saved myself the embarrasment but I'm really trying to save some money and decided I could avoid the extra cost of drugstore.com plus shipping and just pay about $6 for it. The thing is, yeah it's from Monistat, and we all know what their products are for, but I wasn't buying it for that. I've heard it's a good face primer and decided I wanted to try it out. The worst part was checking out because you know the cashier noticed it, and probably thinks it's gonna be used for its intended purpose, but I think if I had just randomly blurted out "It's actually for my face," I would've seemed a lot weirder than I alredy did. And yes, we all have to make monthly trips to the drugstore for our womanly parts, but all women go through that. We all have to buy them at some point, so it's not as embarrassing because I know everyone has had to buy tampons and pad at some point. But not everyone had needed to buy chafing relief gel. And technically, I didn't really buy it for the reason you're supposed to. Oh jeez, this has just been one big awkward experience. I probably shouldn't advertise it either, but oh well =D

  • My 120 Palette

I probably should've written this about a month ago when I received it, like when I made the video, but unfortunately, I didn't really have the time till now. Anyway! For those of you that don't know what the 120 palette is, it's this:It's an eyeshadow palette of 120 colors that are highly pigmented. I didn't do swatches because there's already so many out there. Anyway, it comes in a case and they are stacked one on top of the other. If you want to see the packaging, you can watch the video, I open it there.

Like I said, there were only two colors that were damaged.
This one was just chipped, so it can still be used, unfortunately the other color was really broken, and even though I tried pressing it down, it was too soft for it to stay that way.
So it had to be thrown out. You can get insurance, in case this happens, and I did have it, but didn't feel one color was worth it to send it all the way back. This is a very good tool to have if you don't really have a lot of money, because they do run at about only $30. They are very highly pigmented, and if you're barely starting out, this is something that offers a wide range of colors if you don't really know what colors you like yet. The only downside is that they are incredibly soft, so they are a bit fragile and there tends to be a lot of fallout. But for the price and for the number of colors, I would recommend this for anyone looking to expand their make up collection.

If you are interested in buying it, you can go to ebay and just type "120 palette" and you'll get many results. Don't be scared if all the sellers are from Chinea, that's where I bought mine from. The actual seller I bought it from was Beauties Factory, and you can access their ebay store here http://myworld.ebay.com/beauties_factory/

Here's a Hayley Williams (Paramore) look I tired using this palette.
Thanks for reading and watching, hope this was in some was helpful.

    Beauty Tip: Cheap Astringent/Toner

If you're looking for something that's very cheap, yet very effective, I would highly recommend Apple Cider Vinegar.

It can also be used as a toner, since they're basically the same thing, it helps tone your skin. You can get this at any grocery store, and since they are all essentially the same, you can get the cheap generic brand. You don't need to use a lot, either, a very small amount on a cotton ball is enough for the whole face. Be careful with over using it though, or starting out using it 2 times a day, because it can dry your skin out. I would recommend starting out using it only once a day and then working up to twice a day, just like any other toner or astringent.

  • Because I died.

    "Because I died."

I'll never forget that line from "New Moon."

When a little part of you ceases to exist, you'll never forget it.
When you lose a part of yourself, you'll never forget how it felt.
You'll never forget every single emotion that was running through you when it happened.
You'll never forget that no matter how hard you tried, it felt like nothing you did would ever bring it back.
But most importantly, from that point on, you'd try your hardest to never let it happen again.

You learn how to live through it, and you'll learn that even if it does happen, it'll never be to that extreme and you'll know you have what it takes to get through it.

Two years ago I died. And then again last year.
It's one of the reasons I don't like January.
Both times, it happened on the same month.
But the second time wasn't nearly as bad as the first.
I knew I had what I needed to get through it, and I'm not saying it's happening again, but in the event that it does, I know it'll never bring me down as much as it did that first time. A broken heart is an extremely hard thing to heal, and although it's not completely healed, I know there's one person I can thank for helping it along the way and for speeding up the process. Just like anyone else in my life, I'll be forever thankful that he was brought into my life. I search for reasons to why certain events happen, and I finally realized that the reason last year happened was so that I could learn from my mistakes, and learn not to make the same mistakes again. I'm trying, but I can only try so hard. I just hope it's enough.

  • Are you a firm believer in the paranormal, or are you a skeptic who laughs at the idea of ghosts?

Firm believer. Never actually seen a ghost, but always wanted to. People think I'm really weird for that...

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I finally put up my Christmas tree yesterday. It'd kind of my own little tradition, since no one else seems to want to do it. Then, my family has the balls to rush me into doing it. Since it's only a week before Christmas, they kept bugging me, "are you gonna put the tree up? when are you putting the tree up?" Jeez, if you guys want it up so bad, how bout you do it! But I've been putting it up on my own for about the past four or five years, and I like Christmas and it would feel weird without a Christmas tree, so I suck it up every year and put it, usually by myself.

This our tree totally bald. We've had it for a good ten years...maybe...I think. I want to get a new one, but since next year will be the last Christmas I spent at home, I figure I'll by my first Christmas tree for me.
It took me about three hours to get it done, and here's the best ornament.

Whoo! Go Giants! =D Of course, with two very avid football fans in the house, we had to have the obligatory Titans ornament too, that's my brother's team.

At the very top, we never did put a star, we always put an angel, they've changed over the years, and this is the one we're currently using.

And last but not least, here's the final product.

I conned my mom into getting red and silver ornaments, since red is one of my favorite colors =D

How I spent the first day of vacation

It was officially the first day of winter break. Usually after semesters, I get rid of all the papers and work I no longer need. I had a free day, and thought now would be a good a time as ever, so I cleaned out the top part of my closet, I wish I'd gotten a before picture, but anyway, my room was a mess for a good 4 hours.

Going through all my stuff, I found the music we used in our marching show senior year.

It made me nostalgic, I miss performing.

And I also found these old paper dolls. Anyone remember paper dolls??
My mom got these for me in a town called Cloudcroft. It has this one store that sells a bunch of vintage stuff. I'm going to give all my other paper dolls I have away, but when I looked at these, I just couldn't bring myself to give them away. For one, I love the clothes and I don't think a little kid would really know how to appreciate them.

I have a lot of books, most that I've never read because they don't really seem all that interesting, so I pulled out all the ones I've never read and I've decided I'm gonna donate them to the library, if they'll take them, a lot of them are in really good condition.

So here's the final product of the top of my closet (this was the part I was cleaning out and re-organizing)

(yes, my clothes are arranged by color)

and after sorting through all the stuff I pulled out, I managed to get my room back to as normal a state as possible for a 20 year old

What do you guys do on those first days of vacation?
And when, if ever, do you clean out your closet?

About Me

  • My name's Griselda, but you can call me Grizzy. I'm moving to Cali in two years. Junior in college; microbiology major. I LOVE to cook. Don't smoke or drink. I love football, the Giants are my team. I'm a nerd. And a dork. I'm incredibly sarcastic, but I'll make you laugh. I have a tendency to complicate things. I love fashion. But I also love the outdoors. I'm trying to save the Earth. I love spiders. I'm not one dimensional. Don't let the exterior fool you. I'm big on forgiveness, optimism, and faith. I believe in balance within yourself, the world and the universe. I'm obsessed with My Chemical Romance. Sex and the City is pretty much my religion. I do believe in God. I'm pretty easy to get along with. I'm very blunt. I can be evil. And I have a very scary dark side. Being called a bitch is like a term of endearment. But I'm usually pretty nice.
